<description>When a piece of fruit is placed in the bowl it reacts by rolling slightly. A reaction also comes in the form of warped and abstracted reflections in the bowlʼs mirrored surface. This effect continues and evolves with each additional piece of fruit, creating a beautiful and unique experience for the user each time.

This piece is one of a series that represents my priority of engagement in my work.

<description>This nightstand provides bedside storage and a warm, soothing light. As the tambour is pushed away the bottom panel of the compartment slowly illuminates, allowing the user to control the amount of light emitted from the table. The light is similarly dimed by pulling the tambour closed. With the overhead light switch across the room, this nightstand allows a person in bed to open the table fully to read, leave it halfway open to see a loved one, or keep it slightly open as a soft nightlight to fall asleep with.

<description>French pressing coffee is simplified with the development of the pull coffee container. Instead of using a measuring cup for hot water, a french press for brewing, and a thermos for carrying the coffee on the go, the user can use the pull coffee container for all three steps.

The container is graduated to show water volume, features a filter design that is pulled rather than pressed so the grinds can be removed, and is made of steel and insulated allowing the user to take the coffee on the go. Simply pull the grinds into the coffee cap, remove it from the container, and replace with the thermos cap.

<description>The brief from L'Oreal was to develop innovative, interactive packaging fitting specific market segments of their age repair products. Two packages were developed (presented in neutral colors), each creating a new way of interacting with the package and formula.

The first package provides a visual metaphor for the rejuvenation that the user is experiencing with use of the product. A new vacuum pump system was devised to accomplish this. This new system not only has asethetic benefits but could also be used to mix different formulas together in a beautiful way.

The second package offers a new, elegant way of accessing the formula. This package also improves hygiene and conserves formula through its use.

<description>The brief from Fisher Price was to develop a fun and innovative therapeutic toy for a child.

Bubble hero is fun for all, but for children with oral motor disorder it offers a variety of effective therapies. Putting on the toy the child feels empowered and heroic. After filling the toy's body with bubble fuel, the child powers up by blowing up the expandable bladder in the toy. The child can then press a button and release a huge bubble from their chest!

This toy exercises the entire oral mechanism and empowers the child. It also encourages creative role-playing and bubble blowing is therapeutic on multiple levels.

A proof of concept was established for the function of this toy and a low cost, low tech construction was developed.

<description>This exhibit is about taking familiar, ordinary objects and creating an engaging, interactive and didactic experience through modification.

The cabinet, when struck, begins to emit light and sound which repeats and grows in volume as the cabinet comes to life. Opening the top drawer acts as both a volume control and a way to modify the sound characteristics. In the top drawer the user finds a speaker and microphone and learns that they are on a live loop that can be layered and manipulated in any way the user chooses. The user is free to experiment with the instrument. Opening the bottom drawer explains how the piece works, the feedback phenomenon that powers the piece, and allows the user to later download their created soundscapes or stream sounds from the box at home.

<description>This is a personal computer table. The tabletop can be gently pushed away to reveal power, usb connections, and compartments that allow the user to store items or quickly clear the table surface. The tambour of the tabletop allows the table to be placed against a wall. To plug into an outlet or usb the user opens the table, plugs in, and closes the table to find that the wire has been maneuvered into the cutout in the tabletop, keeping all wire clutter protected and out of sight.

<description>This stool demonstrates a unique relationship between metal and wood and a new method of joining the seat to the legs to create visual interest. This stool is held together with 4 hex screws, comes apart to be flat packed, and can be easily manufactured using laser cutting with limited secondary processes.
